Entertainment is returning to the former SouthSide Works Cinema but it has nothing to do with movies.
Pins Mechanical Company, an experiential entertainment concept, will bring duckpin bowling, pinball, classic arcade games, bocce ball, patio pong and even a carnival slide to the former movie house. It has signed a lease with SouthSide Works owner SomeraRoad to take more than 30,000 square feet in the building, now known as the Box Office.
Pins Mechanical is owned by Columbus-based Rise Brands. The SouthSide Works venue will be its first in Pittsburgh and in Pennsylvania. It hopes to open in the third quarter of next year.
“Pittsburgh has been on our radar for quite some time, and we are thrilled to bring exciting entertainment and alternative fun to the South Side,” said Troy Allen, Rise Brands founder. “The SouthSide Works is a vibrant area with a lot of great things happening, thanks to SomeraRoad. We can’t wait for Pins to be part of the community.”
