SomeraRoad now has full approval to redesign the central courtyard at the SouthSide Works and to add a new dog park onto the tunnel park green space at the mixed-use master plan.

The Pittsburgh Planning Commission unanimously approved two measures — one to redesign the courtyard, one to add the new dog park — to enable the company to make the changes after it was presented with the designs for the two projects by the Strip District office of AE7.

SomeraRoad proposed a very different look and use for the courtyard, removing the water fountain and adding new turf to the square, encouraging more active uses. The courtyard will include a new stage in front of the Cheesecake Factory and two new kiosks on the edges along the other side of the courtyard that are expected to be available for food and beverage ventures and other commercial uses.
